Purdue University's Mitch Daniels School of Business is building the future of business. The school, founded in 1958, is a hallmark of the #8 public university in the U.S. and has a long history as one of the top business schools in the country. In 2023, the school was renamed after former Purdue University President Mitch Daniels (2013-2022).

Purdue University consistently places high in rankings of innovation, affordability, number of patents received, and global visibility. In the latest 2025 QS World University Rankings, Purdue was ranked No. 89 globally, a gain of 10 spots from the previous year. Among U.S. institutions overall, Purdue landed in the top 25, scoring a No. 24 placement, up from both 2024 (No. 27) and 2023 (No. 32). The university’s name and reputation reach far and wide, due to a global alumni network of more than 600,000 Boilermakers.

The MS Finance program is ranked #5 in North America (Best-Masters.com, 2022) and is in the top 20 master’s programs in finance in North America (QS, 2023).

Focus Areas

Grounded in tradition, the Daniels School of Business looks to the future by offering programs that blend technology and business. The curriculum is strong in STEM disciplines and includes hands-on learning experiences, such as internships, consulting projects, practicum courses and global immersion programs. The MS Finance program places a strong focus on real-world examples and research-based applications. Students participate in case competitions, conferences, and centers like the Purdue Fintech Center and the Boiler Blockchain Club.

Research and Facilities

Purdue University is an R1 institution, which means it is classified as having very high research activity. There are more than 130 university-approved research institutes and centers at Purdue, housed in the Office of Research. At the business school, faculty conduct and publish research in academic areas including economics, finance, management information systems, marketing, organizational behavior and human resource management, quantitative methods, supply chain and operations management, and more.


Purdue’s main campus, founded in 1869, is large and vibrant and mixes traditional brick buildings with newer, modern glass structures. The Daniels School calls the Krannert Building and Rawls Hall home and is located at the heart of campus, across from the student center and union. Construction is underway on a new business school building, set to open in 2027.

Global Perspective

Purdue has one of the most diverse student populations in the United States, with students from more than 125 different countries. At the business school, 99 countries are represented. The Daniels School teaches business with a global mindset and encourages students to learn global business practices and perspectives through study abroad programs and international partnerships.
